Farewell Old Gal
This was one of the first pictures I took of my first car, a 1980 Chevrolet Citation.  I owned it for a little over three years.  It had it's faults, some inherent, others from the previous owner's neglect, but it was a limping tank.  I didn't get the chance to tune up the engine and get it running right, but it always kept truckin'.

You hold many memories, old friend.
Both good and bad, and I'll never forget them.
But our time together has come to an end.
Farewell, and may we meet again.
Fielded Cutlass PT. 6
Early the following year, after hunting for so long, I at long last landed a job. Soon after, I remembered the Cutlass in the roadside field.
I rode out to see it for the first time in six months, half expecting it to be gone.

And it was.
Disappointment nawed at me. I wallowed in it. Then, I took a deep breath. It was for the best.
On top of my other neglected projects, I had university tuition to worry about. Turning my bike around, I rode off for home.

I couldn't stay away from it, and rode my bike the two kilometers to visit it once a week at minimum. The summer was passing.
I'd had no success at finding a job. My hope was twisting into dread for the day that the window would close.
-But until then, I'd keep trying, I'd keep visiting it, I'd take pictures, I'd film it. The leaves soon began to fall, and the weather became wet and cold.
I'd had no luck, and quietly, partially gave up.
Curbside Rarity
The wind blew frigid on this rainy winter day.  I was Downtown, and had just picked up a Japanese copy of Silent Hill for five bucks.  As I rounded a corner on the way to a 'five-dollar-everything' restaurant, my eyes caught a distinctive shape.  Incredible surprise and giddiness filled me.  Aside from my own, never before had I ever seen one in person, let alone in the wild.  A Phoenix four door hatch, a Phoenix coupe, and a couple of skylark sedans, sure, but NEVER a Citation.  Considering its rarity, I can't be blamed for photographing it like a star on the red carpet: many times, and from many angles.

Despite being near broke, unemployed, and already owning two other projects, I vowed to return for it. I didn't know if he would sell.
My guess at a price was two grand, if I was lucky. Finally, I left for home with hope and excitement.
